This informal Carol Singing event is being hosted by Gloweth Chapel, Truro, with kind permission of Cornwall Housing. Last year's event was well attended, and we anticipate an even larger crowd this year. Carol Sheets provided, or you are welcome to download one. Please bring a chair if you would like to sit down. Please do not attend if you have any symptoms of Covid 19, or if you have recently been near someone with the virus. As organisers we are taking reasonable precautions, but all attendees come at their own risk. We look forward to seeing you.
Come along and enjoy learning and singing some traditional Cornish Carols. This is a workshop - not a service - and it is completely relaxed and informal, and great fun. You do not have to be able to read music. You do not need any previous musical experience. All the music can be learned by ear. Cornish refreshments provided. More...

We had a great time learning and singing some traditional Cornish Carols at our fourth Cornish Carols Workshop. We sang some that we learned in previous years, and then focused on learning something new to us: Merritt's version of Angels from the Realms of Glory. After a time of learning our parts, we were delighted with how it sounded.
We were thrilled to welcome a number of familiar faces, and some who were with us for the first time.
You can find further information about the Cornish Carols on here on our website where the workshop materials are available to download.

Renovations (2)
The skimming is now finished, and is slowly drying. It has covered the insulation and plasterboard beautifully. We're hoping to complete initial decorating in time for our Christmas programme.

Tuesday 31st October 2017
On 31st October 2017, we hosted a tasty supper to celebrate the 500th anniversary of an event that marked the beginning of the Reformation. Martin Luther, objecting to a number of unbiblical practices in the church of his day, nailed a protest to the door of the castle church of Wittenberg. His ideas rapidly caught on, and the Reformation swept across Europe, leading to a recovery of many biblical teachings that had long been obscured.
In particular, the Reformation emphasised the gospel message that we are put right with God by faith alone, and not by any good works which we may do. Luther and the reformers preached the full forgiveness of sins by faith in Christ - a forgiveness that is free, but not cheap.
To celebrate this 500th anniversary we enjoyed tasty food, a retelling of the story of Martin Luther, with some enjoyable activities on the main themes of the Reformation. We had a great evening together - a delicious chilli supper, with a 'Diet of Worms' chocolate cake, and a fun quiz to finish. Thank you to everybody who attended, and to everybody who helped out.
We celebrated the five great Reformation themes: Christ alone, faith alone, grace alone, Scripture alone, and the glory of God alone.
"Here I stand; I can do no other.
So help me God."

Renovations (1)
Our renovations are now underway. The pictures show the preliminary work of battens on the walls, ready for the insulation and plaster-boarding.
These improvements should make the chapel warmer, and the plastering and redecorating should make the main hall brighter and more pleasant. We are looking forward to the completion of the work, and thank the Lord for the provision of funds to go ahead with the plans.
For the moment, we are holding meetings and services upstairs, using the side entrance, and we are not running Sunday School. Further updates to follow.
